NIU Cares Day plans team leader orientation

January 16, 2014

NIU Cares Day 2012The eighth annual NIU Cares Day is right around the corner!

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, more than 1,000 students will be out in the DeKalb community assisting with various projects for not-for-profit organizations, community agencies and DeKalb county residents. Volunteer registration will occur in waves this year, starting with team leader registration in February and team member/individual registration in March.

Volunteer teams should contain no more than 15 people and must designate oneĀ individual to serve as the team leader (the leader and primary contact person for the team). Large organizations will need to break into multiple teams of 15 or less.

Some team ideas include a student organization, residence hall floor, a study group, group of friends, carpool crew, and/or co-workers. In order for a team to be added to the online roster, the team leader must attendĀ a MANDATORY orientation session.
