Alum Malouf named Dearborn president, CEO

Dearborn National Life Insurance Companya subsidiary of Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), which operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas–announced that Northern Illinois University alumnus Mike Malouf was named president and CEO on Oct. 21.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead Dearborn National and build upon the legacy of excellence laid out by HCSC,” Malouf said.

“With his extensive leadership experience in the insurance industry, Mike will be a tremendous asset to HCSC and Dearborn National,” said Maurice Smith, divisional senior vice president, Business Development and Subsidiary Management at HCSC. “His experience, knowledge and dedication to this field will help further our commitment to providing insurance coverage to our members throughout every life stage for more than 75 years.”

Prior to joining Dearborn National, Malouf was president and CEO of Willis of Illinois. Previously, he served as senior vice president, Global Strategies and Sales, at MetLife, Inc. He held many leadership roles within that firm, including senior vice president of MetLife’s International division, senior vice president, Group Benefits Sales, and vice president, National Accounts Customer Unit and Business Development.

Malouf earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing at NIU’s College of Business, and he later earned an MBA. Malouf has served as chairman of Athletes Against Drugs and is a former associate member of the State of Illinois Treasury Business Round Table.
