Stadium Drive West between Stadium Drive South and Stadium Drive North will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, Oct. 16, to facilitate the installation of the final light pole for the Northern Illinois University Soccer/Track and Field Complex.

On Tuesday, Barton Electric will be assembling the pole along Stadium Drive West, and they may encroach on the west lane of the roadway during the day.

Completed prior to the 2008-09 academic year, the NIU Soccer/Track and Field Complex features an eight-lane track conducive to both training and competition, and includes an eight-lane straightaway. Thanks to a “sandwich system” that layers two synthetic materials, the new track surface is nearly impermeable to damage from rain and snow.

The turf has a FIFA 2-Star quality rating, meaning it measures up to the highest standards of artificial soccer surface available.
