Homecoming week is upon us. I have enjoyed feeling the buzz on campus and seeing NIU pride on display everywhere I go.

For students, Homecoming means a chance to enjoy some of the many social and communiversity activities that take place during the week with classmates.

For faculty and staff, it marks a chance to show our Huskie pride in addition to the opportunity to reconnect with alumni and foster continued engagement with a department, college and the university.

And for alumni, Homecoming is a chance to, well, come home to NIU, renew acquaintances and friendships, connect with your college or department faculty and staff and, we hope, give back in terms of your time, resources or influence to better the experience for our students.

I hope you’ll take advantage of the many opportunities for community this week. Show your Huskie pride at “Yell like Hell” tomorrow night at the Convocation Center; take in the Homecoming parade and bonfire that follows Friday; run the Homecoming 5K Saturday morning before beginning your tailgating; and be sure to cheer the Huskies on to victory against Akron at 4 p.m.

Go Huskies!
