Julie A. Lagacy, vice president for the Finance Services Division at heavy equipment maker Caterpillar, will be the keynote speaker for the NIU College of Business BELIEF Week.

Lagacy will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Barsema Auditorium of the NIU College of Business.

BELIEF (Building Ethical Leaders Using an Integrated Ethics Framework) is the college’s nationally recognized program for building ethics education into its entire curriculum. The college has been ranked among the top three in the nation for the last four years by BusinessWeek magazine for its success in teaching ethics to business students.

BELIEF Week features speakers from the professional world who address students on the application of ethics in their daily work lives.

Highlighting the week will be Lagacy, whose talk is titled, “Living Our Values: More Critical Than Ever.” The talk is open to all NIU students, faculty and staff, as well as alumni and business friends of the university. Overflow seating, with a live video feed of her talk, will be available in rooms near the auditorium.

“Caterpillar is one of our BELIEF founding partners, and we are excited to have them play such an exciting role in this year’s event,” said Bill McCoy, director of the BELIEF program.

Other speakers addressing class throughout the week include executives from National Bank and Trust, KPMG and Nicor.
