“NIU has an established and committed vegetarian and international population located on-campus and off-campus. Members of the Student Food Committee brought concerns that students wanted a larger selection and variety of vegetarian and international options,” said Richard Fritz, director of Residential Dining. “Having the Douglas Dining Center as a dining destination for vegetarian and international meals gives our customers a great dining option.”

The menu choices rotate daily to allow students a variety of delicious food from all around the world as well as an assortment of vegetarian and vegan options. Some items include vegetable frittata, madras curry, Thai chicken curry, stir fry, quiche, falafel and a wide range of NIU bakery desserts.

“We are receiving positive feedback from students about the food and selection,” said Scot Ostrander, unit manager of Douglas Dining Center.

Dinner at the Douglas Dining Center is open to all NIU students, faculty and staff including those from other residence halls and those who live off-campus.

Dinner is $8 per person. Acceptable forms of payments are NIU meal plans (including the faculty/staff meal plan), Flex Dollars or Huskie Bucks. Credit cards and debit cards are not accepted. The Douglas Dining Center is open from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for dinner.
