Northern Illinois’ football game Saturday, Sept. 28, at Purdue will be broadcast to a national audience on ESPN2, the Big Ten Conference and ESPN announced Monday.

The game will kick off at 11 a.m. (CT) from Ross-Ade Stadium.

The contest becomes NIU’s fourth guaranteed (over the air) ESPN national contest as the Huskies will be featured on ESPN2 or ESPNU on three weeknight games in November.

NIU’s home game versus Ball State on Wednesday, Nov. 13, will be televised on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. The Huskies’ contest at Toledo one week later will air on ESPN2, and the Northern Illinois-Western Michigan game on Tuesday, Nov. 26 will be carried on ESPN2.

In addition, three more upcoming Huskie games will be televised in 2013, with NIU’s game at Kent State (Oct. 5) a part of the Mid-American Conference‘s new agreement with Time Warner Cable Sports channel, the NIU-Eastern Michigan game at Huskie Stadium on Oct. 26 set to air on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and the Huskies’ game at UMass selected for ESPN Regional syndication.

This week’s home opener versus Eastern Illinois can be seen online on ESPN3 and via the WatchESPN app on mobile devices. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. (CT).

Northern Illinois (2-0) carries a 21-game win streak at Huskie Stadium into the opener, which ranks as the longest in FBS. Eastern Illinois brings one of the top offenses in the country into the game as the 3-0 Panthers are averaging 631.3 yards per game, while quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo leads the FCS with 1,281 passing yards.
