ITS puts computer labs in ‘Anywhere’ cloud

August 20, 2013

Photo of white clouds in a blue skyEvery semester, thousands of NIU students go to computer labs to use course-specific software, access their H: drives and print.

Information Technology Services has created a suite of applications, Anywhere Lab, that allows students to do all those things from any Internet-enabled device, on and off campus.

Anywhere Apps
Statistical applications SPSS and SAS are available to all students along with nearly 50 other applications depending on course enrollment and status. Contact anywhereapps@niu.edu for details.

Anywhere Files
Students can access their H: drive from any device connected to the Internet. They can share files on their H: drive with other NIU students. Their file space is increased to 5 Gigabytes.

Anywhere Printing
Students can submit a print job from any device with an Internet connection and pick it up at any Anywhere Printer. The Fall 2013 print quota is $14 of black-and-white and color printing. Anywhere Printers are multi-function. Scanning to email or a USB drive is free.
