NIU College of Law professor Lawrence Schlam was recently appointed a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Child Law Section Council.
The Child Law Section Council is intended:
- to keep attorneys apprised of relevant issues in juvenile justice, child and family law, adoption and guardianship;
- to study as well as create child-related legislation;
- to provide skills training for lawyers working in juvenile and family law; and
- to foster discussion on improvements in any and all legal matters pertaining to children.
Professor Schlam regards juvenile and family law as areas of particular interest and expertise. He is a published author on the subject of juvenile law and recently helped author a brief heard before the U.S. Supreme Court on adoption rights.
