Northern Illinois athletics has a pair of opportunities for fans to meet, greet and mingle with members of the NIU football family this summer as the Huskies host their fifth annual Football 101 Women’s Clinic on Wednesday, July 24 and the 18th annual Brigham-Novak Gridiron Classic golf outing on Friday, July 26.

Football 101, at the Yordon Center and Huskie Stadium, is a fun, informative and interactive program is designed to give women an opportunity to increase their knowledge of football directly from NIU head coach Rod Carey and Huskie student-athletes.

The evening begins with check-in, drinks and appetizers at 5 p.m., participants will also have the opportunity to meet and greet members of the Huskie football team. At 6 p.m., the program will begin with a welcome from Coach Carey, followed by breakout sessions in smaller groups that will include: a tour of facilities, weight room demonstrations, q-and-a with student-athletes, football signals review with certified officials and on-field stations.

Registration is $60 which includes a playbook, two tickets to the home opener against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 21 and a surprise gift. All proceeds will directly benefit NIU student-athlete through the Huskie Athletic Support Fund.

The Brigham-Novak Gridiron Classic has a new location this year and will take place at Glendale Lakes Golf Club in Glendale Heights.

A continental breakfast and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with golf beginning via a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Lunch and awards are scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m.

Fans interested in taking part in the Brigham-Novak can do so in a number of ways. Single golf entries are available for $175 with foursomes discounted to $650, a lunch-only option is also available for $40. The registration deadline is July 17 and additional sponsorship options are also currently available.

All proceeds from the Brigham-Novak Classic directly benefit the NIU football program and Huskie football coaches will be in attendance to provide a preview of the upcoming 2013 football season.
