June 17, 2013

The ELS Language Center in DeKalb is in search of host homes for international students during the 2013-2014 academic school year. In return, host home volunteers will receive a $600 stipend every four weeks.

ELS students come from all regions of the world to increase their knowledge of the English language, so English must be the primary language spoken in the home. Additionally, host homes are responsible for providing breakfast and dinner for the student.

Host homes are required to provide each student with his or her own bedroom, and the residence must be within a 45-minute commute to NIU. No more than two international students are allowed per house at a time.

For more than 50 years, ELS Language Centers have helped more than 1 million students from around the world learn to speak English.

Providing students with a wide variety of options – ranging from intensive English programs and university placement assistance, to executive business programs and vacation learning options – ELS uses an exclusive curriculum that includes 12 levels of intensive English. ELS educators are recognized throughout the world for their active participation in the global learning community.
