Future engineers gear up for Senior Design Day

May 1, 2013

CEET Senior Design Day 2012NIU’s College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) is gearing up for what students are anticipating to be the best Senior Design Day yet.

Seniors from CEET will present their senior design projects Friday, May 3, to faculty, staff, other students and corporate partners of the college. Seniors spend at least one semester preparing, designing and implementing new ideas, products and systems designed to make the world a better place to live.

Groups of students from each department apply the information, skills and knowledge they’ve gained theoretically in their courses and apply it to their design idea.

Their final projects are presented to department faculty and staff as well as external corporate officials from companies such as Motorola, Caterpillar, Central DuPage Hospital and more.

Awards are given at 3:45 p.m. to the winning two teams from each department. The NIU Engineering Technology Alumni Society (ETAS) awards the overall college winner with a financial contribution. ETAS also backs each department winner with a small contribution as well.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Friday; lunch will be served at noon. Senior Design Day is open to the public.
