Inclement weather in the DeKalb area has forced a couple changes to the Northern Illinois University softball schedule.

Today’s home game between NIU and Western Illinois, originally scheduled for 4 p.m., has been canceled. The Huskies (17-26, 7-7) will play host to UIC at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Wednesday’s game with the Flames was originally scheduled for April 17 but was postponed due to rain.

Following their Wednesday game with UIC, the Huskies welcome Akron and Ohio to Mary M. Bell Field for Alumni Weekend.

NIU takes on Akron in a doubleheader Friday and Ohio in single games on Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s action begins at 1 p.m., while first pitch for Saturday and Sunday’s games will be 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.

NIU Athletics invites all former Huskie softball players, coaches and their families to Alumni Weekend, planned Friday, April 26, through Sunday, April 28.

A reception is planned at Fatty’s Pub & Grille following Saturday’s game, and a pregame tailgate will take place Sunday before the Huskies take on the Bobcats. For more information or to RSVP, contact assistant director of development Kyle Skarb at (815) 753-9198.
