Law school to host May 1 ‘listening conference’ for Illinois Supreme Court Access to Justice

Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride, Justice Robert R. Thomas, Chief Judge Michael J. Sullivan and NIU College of Law Dean Jennifer L. Rosato will host the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice Listening Conference at NIU.

The conference is scheduled from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Riley Courtroom (Swen Parson Hall Room 170) of the College of Law.

Additional speakers/panelists for the conference include Patrick M. Kinnally (Kane County Bar Association), Michele Meyer (Mutual Ground), Mike O’Connor (Prairie State Legal Services), professor David H. Taylor (NIU College of Law) and Michelle Rock (Director of Illinois Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health and Justice).

The Commission on Access to Justice is devoted to doing whatever it possibly can to improve access to justice for everyone, with an emphasis on improving access for low-income and vulnerable people.

The purpose of this conference is to hear from people engaged in the judicial system about problems confronting the poor and vulnerable in our communities and to hear about possible solutions.
