Huskies Say Thanks: Students to honor donors with ribbons during inaugural day of gratitude

April 3, 2013

Huskies Say Thanks!NIU students will celebrate “Huskies Say Thanks” Friday, April 19, by handing out special “thank-you” ribbons to raise awareness of donor support.

The NIU Alumni Association, the NIU Foundation and Northern Lights Ambassadors have partnered to make this day of recognition possible.

Allison Mass, a Northern Lights Ambassador, says the purpose of the day is to make NIU students aware of everything donors have made possible. “We also want to make sure donors see how much they’re appreciated,” she says.

Diane Johnson, associate director of donor relations, helped organize the new, student-initiated event.

“I’m so touched and impressed that these students stepped forward to do this,” Johnson says. “I think it really shows that they understand the impact that donors have on campus.”
