Baseball moves weekend series with Kent State to UIC, steers clear of unplayable NIU diamond

Because of unplayable field conditions at Ralph McKinzie Field, Northern Illinois baseball’s home-opening series with Mid-American Conference foe Kent State has been moved to Les Miller Field on the campus of the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Les Miller Field is located at 901 W. Roosevelt Road in downtown Chicago, near Interstate 90/94.

Admission is free to the general public.

This weekend signals the start of conference for all teams around the Mid-American Conference. The Golden Flashes were a College World Series participant in 2012, becoming the first team from the MAC to advance to Omaha since Eastern Michigan in 1976.

Game times for the series:

  • Friday, March 22: 5:30 p.m. (or 45 minutes after the conclusion of UIC game)
  • Saturday, March 23: 6 p.m. (or 45 minutes after the conclusion of UIC games)
  • Sunday, March 24: 1 p.m.
