Parking prohibition possible in DeKalb

March 4, 2013

Photo of cars driving on a snowy roadDue to the National Weather Service’s heavy snow forecast, the City of DeKalb is highly encouraging residents and visitors to use off-street parking.

It is likely that a snow emergency will be declared Tuesday, March 5, with the possibility of a total parking prohibition for the duration of the snow cleanup operation. Residents can use Lot No. 3 (Gurler Lot) at the northwest corner of Grove and South Fourth streets to park during the event.

Listen to the local media or visit the city’s Facebook page for updates. The exact path of the storm and likely accumulations are still being determined. The fewer cars on the street make it easier and faster to clear the streets of snow and make parking available more quickly after an event.
