Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, will host its 10th annual Graduate Student Presentation Contest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in Room 201 of La Tourette Hall.
This contest occurs during the spring semester prior to the Sigma Xi annual meeting.
Students are required to give 15-minute PowerPoint presentations about their research and will be honored with prizes (first place: $150; second place: $100; third place: $50) and free tickets to the Sigma Xi banquet, scheduled for Tuesday, April 23.
This is a great opportunity for graduate students to sharpen their speaking skills, and the winners can note this award in their resumes when they apply to graduate schools or to companies for employment.
The final presentation schedule will be posted online at www.niu.edu/sigmaxi. Prizes will be awarded at the annual Sigma Xi banquet.
Graduate students in all science and engineering disciplines are encouraged to compete. Membership in Sigma Xi is not required.
