SROP was created to promote access to undergraduate research during the summer months. SROP will support between eight and 10 students who will work on faculty-mentored research from June 17 through Aug. 10.

In SROP, students see what research looks like in their field of study; learn how to write a formal research proposal; gain experience working alongside talented NIU faculty; attend professional and academic enrichment activities; and receive housing, meals and a generous stipend.

Admission to SROP will be offered on a competitive basis to those individuals who, at the application deadline, are full-time students enrolled at NIU; are sophomores, juniors or seniors (who are not graduating in spring or summer 2013); and have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

For more information and to apply to SROP, visit the website or email ugresearch@niu.edu.
