Study Abroad Fair planned Thursday, Feb. 7

February 5, 2013

Photo of luggage with foreign stickersThe NIU Study Abroad Office will hold a Spring Study Abroad Fair from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the gallery of the Holmes Student Center.

All students who would like to learn more about the possibility of studying abroad are invited to attend.

Students will have the opportunity to meet with NIU faculty members who direct worldwide short-term study abroad programs, talk with financial aid representatives, past study abroad participants and study abroad staff.

While NIU has many options for semester- and year-long study abroad experiences, the Spring Study Abroad Fair will highlight many of the summer faculty-directed programs.

These programs offer the opportunity to enhance your résumé, improve your intercultural skills, increase your self-awareness, and broaden your perspective of global engagement, all while earning NIU academic credit.

Students who aren’t able to attend the fair can plan to attend an informative presentation and question-and-answer session titled “Study Abroad 101: First Steps to Study Abroad.” Study Abroad 101 content is the same at each session, so students need only attend once to learn the basics. The presentation will be offered at 3:30 p.m. ever Wednesday and Thursday in the NIU Study Abroad Office, located in Williston Hall 417.

Both the Study Abroad Fair and Study Abroad 101 are free and open to the public.
