W-2 wage, tax statements online after Jan. 22

Collage of income tax imagesW-2 wage and tax statements for 2012 will be available online for employees after Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Employees may opt this year to suspend the printed statement, which would mean the W-2 would be available only online through MyNIU. The Self Service option for W-2 wage and tax statements allows individuals to obtain their W-2 information when they need it without waiting to receive it in the mail.

Printed W-2 statements can be suspended through Employee Self Service at This option must be selected before Friday, Jan. 18, to prevent the statement from being printed and mailed.

Individuals with limited computer access who wish to elect this option or wanting to view their W-2 statements online are welcome to utilize the computer lab in the HRS Service Center (Swen Parson, Room 110) or at the HRS Service Center on Lincoln Highway.

To log into the Self Service system, navigate to Then use your personal Account ID login and password to access the system and click on the Employee Self Service link.

Employees who do not know their Account ID logins and/or passwords can obtain their logins or reset their passwords at or calling the ITS help desk at (815) 753-8100. It is important to maintain your personal Account ID login and password in strict confidence. The Account ID login password grants access to NIU work-related systems, and specifically in Self Service, personal information such as your Social Security number and wage information are contained on the W-2 form. It is also important, after you complete viewing your Self Service information that you sign out of the system for security purposes by clicking the “sign out” link in the upper right hand corner of the black bar.
