Top 25 of 2012: Global sales competition

No. 21

In February, the NIU College of Business played host to the second annual World Collegiate Sales Open. The contest was coordinated by the faculty of NIU’s Professional Sales Program, which has been ranked among the best in the nation for decades.

The event was the finally of a competition that began months earlier, with 192 students from 28 business school. The final included teams from the U.S., Austria and the United Kingdom.

At the competition, students participated in real-life sales activities such as cold calling, making an elevator pitch, meeting a client and finally making their pitch to seasoned sales professionals. Participating coaches and students said it was among the most realistic competitions of its kind.
