Saturday football team banquet open to public, tickets for dinner on sale through noon Friday

Bowl Crashing Huskies!NIU’s Mid-American Champion and Orange Bowl-bound football team will host its annual team banquet Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Duke Ellington Ballroom of the Holmes Student Center.

The event is open to the public as the Huskies’ winningest senior class will be honored and team awards will be handed out.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available now and must be purchased by noon Friday, Dec. 7. To purchase tickets, contact Julie Edwards in the NIU Football Office at (815) 753-0220 or jaedwards@niu.edu. The event costs $25 per adult and $14 per children ages 12 and younger. Limited space is available.

Parking is free of charge as guests can park in Lot M1 (Blue Lot), located at the corner of Normal Road and Newman Lane next to the Campus Life Building.

NIU’s senior class – the winningest class in school history with 41 wins, an unprecedented two straight Mid-American Conference championships, and a school- and MAC-first-ever Bowl Championship Series appearance in the Discover Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day in Miami – will be honored. The 2012 seniors own a spectacular 41-13 overall record since 2009. They replaced their 2011 counterparts as the school’s winningest group.
