Junior forward James Stevenson (Falkirk, Scotland/St. Mungo’s) of the Northern Illinois men’s soccer team was named to the All-Mid American Conference Second Team, announced Thursday by the league office.

Teams are selected by a vote of the conference head coaches.

Stevenson, an All-MAC First Team and NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team honoree a season ago, has scored three goals and registered three assists this season while helping NIU earn a second place finish in the MAC.

He has appeared in 17 games this season, making 12 starts for the Huskies.

The second-leading scorer for the Huskies behind Gael Rivera (Oslo, Norway/WANG Elite Sports Academy), Stevenson earned All-Tournament honors earlier this season at the Nike Lobo Invitational after scoring in the 82nd minute against Denver to help send the game to overtime.

In addition to his goal against Denver, Stevenson also scored in the season opener against Creighton and added a goal and an assist at Florida Atlantic.

During his NIU career, the Falkirk, Scotland native has played in 50 matches, scoring 12 goals while recording five assists.

Stevenson and the No. 2 seed Huskies will open play in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, when they face No. 3 seed West Virginia in Akron, Ohio.
