NIU Career Services will host the ABCs of Getting an Internship Workshop in the Regency Room of the Holmes Student Center from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
“This workshop will feature both an employer panel that will discuss the value of an internship as well as help students gain insight into what employers are looking for in candidates, and a student panel that will discuss their internship experiences,” said Jocelyn Santana, Career Resource Center manager.
The workshop will also feature NIU alumna Susan Caplan as she discusses tips for marketing yourself based on her book, “Marketing Yourself to the Real World: 10 Simple Steps to Gain a Competitive Edge in the Job Market.” The first 150 students through the door will receive a free copy of Caplan’s book.
Students are highly encouraged to attend this workshop, if they plan to attend the Internship Fair on Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center. To be competitive in the job market after graduation, students should have a minimum of one to two internships on their resumes.
