Ellington’s, the student-run restaurant located in Holmes Student Center, opens Tuesday, Oct. 2, for the fall semester.
Students of FCNS 320 Quantity Food Production plan, prepare and serve delicious three course meals with a theme at Ellington’s as part of their course requirements in the areas of Nutrition and Dietetics and Hospitality Administration. The courses are housed in the School of Family, Consumer and Nutrition Sciences, part of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Located on the main floor of the Holmes Student Center, the dining room is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seatings are between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Price of a full meal is $9, which includes beverages and tips. Huskie Bucks, checks, NIU meal coupons, cash and most credit cards are accepted.
Wine is available with your meal; one red and one white wine choice are selected for each menu, based on wine and food pairings done by the students. Wine selections will range from $4.50 to $6.50 per glass. Anyone who appears younger than 30 is likely to be carded.
Reservations are suggested, although seating will be done on a walk-in basis when possible. Reservations for groups of 10 or more are strongly recommended.
