Attempted armed robbery investigation continues

Both Northern Illinois University and City of DeKalb police are investigating an off-campus attempted armed robbery that occurred early Friday afternoon (September 14).

According to NIU police two suspects attempted to rob a United Parcel Service (UPS) driver in the 900 block of Ridge Drive on city’s northwest side.

The suspects claimed that they had a weapon though according to police no weapon was displayed.

The suspects are described as two black males in their mid-to-early twenties.

One of the suspects is approximately 5’5” to 5’10” in height, wearing a black sweatshirt.

The second suspect is approximately 5’10’ to 6’0″ in height and was wearing a dark jacket with white, leather-like sleeves.

The suspects fled scene and were last seen near buildings in the 800 block of Ridge Drive.

Update from DeKalb Police – 7:00 p.m. Friday, 9/14

DeKalb Police report that while the suspects remain at large there is currently no known immediate danger to the general public.
