It is important to take extra precautions to destroy sensitive documents that might have private information on them, such as Social Security numbers, bank accounts or bill account numbers.

To assist the community in destroying these documents, DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder John Acardo is hosting a community-wide shred event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25, at the county’s Sycamore campus.

There is no cost, no ID check and no limit on the amounts of documents brought for shredding.

DeKalb County’s Sycamore campus is located at 110 E. Sycamore St.
