The Huskies (18-23, 6-6 MAC) enter play fresh off a weekend sweep of Kent State.

Nicole Gremillion, who moved down from the leadoff spot to the nine hole against the Golden Flashes, hit particularly well in the two-game series. Gremillion went 4-for-6, with three runs, a triple, a home run, and three RBIs Sunday against Kent State. On the week, she batted .467, going 7-of-15 from the plate.

UIC (18-22, 5-6 Horizon) comes into Wednesday’s contest losers of seven of their last 10 after splitting a doubleheader Saturday.

After losing Game One, Melinda Macias helped lead the Flames to a 10-2 victory after going 5-for-5, scoring three runs, and hitting her first home run of the season.

The Huskies own a 32-29 record over the Flames all-time, with the two teams splitting the last two meetings. UIC took last year’s meeting, 7-0, while the Huskies won the 2010 contest, 12-8. This is NIU’s first trip to Flames Field since the 2009 season.

Wednesday’s game with UIC is the first of a five game road trip for the Huskies.

NIU resumes Mid-American Conference play when Northern Illinois heads to Ohio for a doubleheader with the Bobcats Friday. The Huskies conclude their trip at Akron for a weekend series with the Zips.
