The team will host three camps for individuals, teams and coaches to receive instruction from the NIU coaching staff and wrestling team.
NIU Wrestling Camps are designed to create and further develop champions.
Within the NIU camp environment, students will not only learn to achieve their goals but also form lasting friendships with fellow campers, counselors and NIU coaches.
Iron Huskie Training Camp – July 6-15
This camp is designed for the wrestler who is serious about his training and wants to be a champion. You will learn how to break through barriers and reach new heights of success in your wrestling. You will improve your wrestling skills, strategy, conditioning, strength and mental fortitude. You will train with NIU wrestlers and coaches. This camp will help you attain your goals!
Individual Camp – July 11-15
Wrestlers will be grouped by ability and age levels where they will be trained on several techniques. They will be able to choose from several specialty areas of emphasis including but not limited to advanced takedowns and set ups, pinning/cradles, arm bars, leg riding, advanced defensive techniques, upper body throws, escapes and reversals. Camp sessions will include technique, drills, competitions and games.
Team/Competiton Camp – July 11-15
Each team will be assigned an coach for the entire week. Teams will wrestle 12 matches with personal instruction after every match. Partial teams will stay together, but may be combined with another team or individuals to create a full team. The camp clinician and team coach will critique the individual/team on strengths and weaknesses. All coaches bringing a team must contact Coach Ryan Ludwig at (815) 753-9478.
Coach Discount: a coach bringing a team will be provided room and meals at no cost and can assist in supervising his wrestlers, provide support and share ideas with other coaches.
