NIU’s American Marketing Association chapter attended the 34th AMA Annual International Collegiate Conference Recap in New Orleans from March 22 through March 24.
The chapter was awarded the Outstanding Fundraiser and Outstanding Communication Award based on its chapter plans and annual reports.
Each year in New Orleans, the national AMA holds a case competition where different chapters prepare a case before the event and then present their final case to be judged.
Along with the case competition, the conference included a sales competition, a “best” T-shirt competition. Participants also enjoyed hearing from a variety of different speakers from well-known businesses; some of the companies included YouTube/Google, Pearson and McDonald’s.
Hannah Pripps and Jordan St. Clair represented the AMA chapter for the competition in New Orleans.
St. Clair spoke with faculty members from different schools and chapters about the success of the chapter’s Ford Focus Test Drive event. She addressed the purpose of the event, how it was organized and how it benefited others in the NIU chapter.
Her main focus for the faculty covered how she incorporated the use of the AIDA model with the event; for students, she offered a different insight on experiential learning.
