NIU’s chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon finishes first in 2012 Top Management Team Competition

The NIU College of Business Gamma Zeta chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon placed first in the “Top Management Team Competition” at the 2012 Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention, held in Indianapolis.

In addition to this achievement, the Gamma Zeta chapter also received recognition for sustained excellence; three members received scholarships based upon their service to NIU’s chapter.

The Top Management Team Competition specifically recognizes a PSE chapter’s ability to successfully demonstrate performance and process management skills, in addition to the chapter’s ability to overcome obstacles, and maintaining and improving member motivation. The NIU chapter was one of six Pi Sigma Epsilon chapters selected from across the country to participate in an interview with national leaders of the organization as well as business professionals.

“The 2011 PSE – Gamma Zeta Management Team was an outstanding group of leaders. The team implemented new processes and programming to bring each member of the organization ‘A Business Advantage for Life,’” says Chareen Bogner, chapter president throughout 2011. “The chapter worked hard over the past year and truly deserves this remarkable award.”

Each spring, more than 500 collegiate, alumni, educator, and professional Pi Sigma Epsilon members meet to participate in various chapter and individual competitions, seminars and networking events. More information can be found at pse.org or by contacting Erica Swann at eswann@psegammazeta.org.

This spring, Kohl’s Corporation became a leading sponsor of the Gamma Zeta chapter.

This sponsorship will help the chapter participate in nationwide PSE events and it signifies Kohl’s commitment to developing future retail leaders from Gamma Zeta members.

“The Kohl’s-Gamma Zeta partnership enables Kohl’s to support an organization that is dedicated to sales and to serving customers in an ethical and positive manner,” says Mark Rosenbaum, Kohl’s Corporation Professor of Retail Marketing and PSE faculty adviser. “Most importantly, the partnership exposes Kohl’s to some of NIU’s finest students, which have the potential to become future leaders within the Kohl’s Corporation.”

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only national, professional business fraternity with an emphasis in marketing, selling and sales management. The purpose of the organization is to provide members with opportunities to gain real experience that is pertinent to success in the business world.

There are more than 60 chapters nationwide.
