Illinois colleges and universities have received an announcement from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission regarding an early suspension of Monetary Award Program (MAP) awards. Last year’s suspension date occurred toward the end of March;  an even earlier date is anticipated this year.

Director Kathleen D. Brunson strongly encourages undergraduate students to immediately complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA application to be considered for the Illinois MAP Grant. Students can provide estimated tax information and update to actual amounts at a later date.

Students should continue to check their MyNIU accounts and NIU email for updates from the Student Financial Aid Office.

“The Student Financial Aid Office remains committed not only to offering the optimal financial aid package available,” Brunson said, “but also to assist you with decisions about funding your college education.”
