Women’s Resource Center hosts ‘Elect Her’

Elect Her - NIU Women Win logoThe NIU Women’s Resource Center will present “Elect Her – Campus Women Win,” a collaboration between AAUW and Running Start that encourages and trains young women to run for student government on their campuses.

Any students who attend the selected campuses can participate in the training.

NIU’s training session will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the Capitol Room of the Holmes Student Center. Dinner is provided. Applications are due by Tuesday, March 20, to reserve seats.

The Elect Her initiative acknowledges the necessity to build the pipeline of women running for office in order to diminish the long-standing political leadership gender gap. This initiative consists of a full continuum of programming to empower females from high school onward to view themselves as political candidates.

Applications also are available at the Women’s Resource Center, 105 Normal Road. Supporters of the event are welcome to attend without pre-registration.
