Residential Dining asks students to take survey

February 9, 2012

Housing & Dining logoAs part of Housing & Dining’s continuing efforts to enhance services to the residential campus community, Residential Dining has engaged Porter Khouw Consulting to assist in examining residential dining needs on campus.

The consulting company will launch a survey for all NIU students Friday, Feb. 10.

During an on-campus visit, Porter Khouw Consulting met with Housing & Dining employees and students to conduct preliminary research before writing the survey. The survey aims to better understand students’ eating habits, food choices and the factors that help determine why students make certain dining choices.

The survey can be taken online, and will be available to students from Friday, Feb. 10, through Friday, Feb. 17. Students can access the survey through the Housing & Dining website.

After students complete the survey, they will be given the option to enter their names in a random prize drawing. For more information, call (815) 753-0561.

Meanwhile, in another step toward better customer service for residential dining customers, Residential Dining initiated the start of the Student Food Committee last fall. The committee is made up of students from many of the residential communities on campus.

Working closely with the Residence Hall Association, this committee of students helps to ensure that the dining programs being offered are aligned with what students are requesting.

The committee meets at 5:30 p.m. every Monday, and representatives bring comments and suggestions from their constituents. Items are resolved, and when possible, the situations are remedied by the next meeting.

Students who wish to participate in this committee can call (815) 753-0561.
