Students, faculty and staff members will be sent all over Sycamore and DeKalb to complete service projects that will benefit not-for-profit community agencies as well as individual residents.
Past partners have included the DeKalb Park District, the Salvation Army, T.A.I.L.S. Humane Society, District 428 schools and the DeKalb and Sycamore public libraries.
Students are encouraged to sign up as a volunteer team or by themselves.
A team can include people from a student organization, residence hall floor, intramural team or even just a group of friends. Team leaders should email [email protected] now to get their teams recognized. Students who are looking to meet new people or have no team preference can sign up with “Team NIU Cares.”
NIU Cares Day committee members are also available to attend organization meetings to provide information and answer questions. Interested individuals should contact Becky Harlow, assistant director for Student Involvement & Leadership Development, at [email protected] for details. Registration will continue until Friday, March 30.
NIU Cares Day is an excellent opportunity to work alongside students while completing work that benefits the surrounding communities.
Staff members looking for a unique student-oriented experience are encouraged to sign up online as a member of the “Project Site Leader” or “Kickoff Volunteer” team. Training will be provided.
