Online registration begins for NIU Cares Day

NIU Cares Day 2011Registration for NIU Cares Day 2012, NIU’s campus-wide day of community service Saturday, April 14, is now available online.

Students, faculty and staff members will be sent all over Sycamore and DeKalb to complete service projects that will benefit not-for-profit community agencies as well as individual residents.

Past partners have included the DeKalb Park District, the Salvation Army, T.A.I.L.S. Humane Society, District 428 schools and the DeKalb and Sycamore public libraries.

Students are encouraged to sign up as a volunteer team or by themselves.

A team can include people from a student organization, residence hall floor, intramural team or even just a group of friends. Team leaders should email niucaresday@niu.edu now to get their teams recognized. Students who are looking to meet new people or have no team preference can sign up with “Team NIU Cares.”

NIU Cares Day committee members are also available to attend organization meetings to provide information and answer questions. Interested individuals should contact Becky Harlow, assistant director for Student Involvement & Leadership Development, at rharlow@niu.edu for details. Registration will continue until Friday, March 30.
