Small fire at NIU Hoffman Estates campus cancels classes Monday

January 30, 2012

NIU Hoffman Estates Campus

Earlier this morning, there was a small fire at Northern Illinois University’s Hoffman Estates campus. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire appears to be a ceiling heater; fire damage was confined to a small alcove in the building.

While the fire was extinguished by the Hoffman Estates Fire Department, clean-up crews are working to mitigate any lingering smoke on the second floor of the facility, as well as water damage to the small area affected.

As a result, the seven classes and CPA review session scheduled at NIU Hoffman Estates for Monday, Jan. 30, have been canceled.

All classes scheduled for delivery at Hoffman Estates for the rest of the week will be offered as planned.
