Alumni Association gears up to rock Detroit

Logo of the 2011 Marathon MAC Championship 2011The NIU Huskies have wrapped up the Mid-American Conference West and are headed to the 2011 Marathon MAC Championship Game!

On Friday, Dec. 2, at Ford Field in Detroit, our Huskies will take on Ohio University to prove who’s the best in the MAC. Join your fellow Huskie fans in the Motor City for this great event.

The NIU Alumni Association, in partnership with the Huskie Athletic Support Fund (HASF), will host a pregame reception for our NIU faithful.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the Huskies’ run to the MAC Championship Game with fellow alumni and football fans. Registration is available online.

The reception will feature a buffet and cash bar. The NIU Pep Band will be there to play the fight song and get our fans ready for the action. Members of the NIU Alumni Association or HASF will receive two complimentary drink tickets.

Tickets to the pregame reception are $30. The party starts at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time at Ford Field!

MAC Championship Game Ticket Information

Tickets are available through the NIU Ticket Office at (815) 752-6800. Game tickets are $20 and can be picked up at the team hotel, the Marriott Detroit at the Rennaissance Center, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, or at Ford Field Gate G, starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

Hotel Information

The official team hotel is the Marriott Detroit at the Renaissance Center. The MAC has established a MAC/Fan rate of $109.

The NIU Alumni Association will provide shuttles from the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center to Ford Field before and after the game. Anyone wearing Huskie apparel can ride the shuttle for free so be sure to wear your NIU gear!

Regional Watch Parties

Even if you can’t make it to Detroit there are plenty of opportunities to cheer on your Huskies. We are hosting watch parties around the country to give our alumni a chance to gather and root on their alma mater. All watch parties begin 30 minutes prior to kick-off.
