Candidates for the position of assistant vice president for research compliance and integrity in NIU’s Office of Research Compliance (ORC) will visit campus in coming weeks for interviews and open forums.
The person in that position has primary oversight of the ORC – the office monitors two Institutional Review Boards, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the Institutional Biosafety Committee – and is actively involved in the development, implementation and promotion of campus policies and programs related to the responsible conduct of scholarship.
Reporting directly to the vice president for Research and Graduate Studies, the assistant vice president will communicate regularly and work closely as needed with the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Technology Transfer Office, the Graduate School, the Office of the Provost, the Office of Human Resources and Compliance and the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Responsible Conduct of Scholarship Committee (RCS) program and serve as an ex officio member of the RCS committee. The assistant vice president also provides direct support to the Division of Research & Graduate Studies and collaborates with other administrative units and research-active faculty members to implement and improve practices, policies and programs related to protection of human and animal subjects, conflict of interest and other areas of research integrity.
