MTV’s ‘The Buried Life’ coming Friday to NIU

The Buried LifeThe cast of MTV’s hit show “The Buried Life” will visit the NIU campus Friday, Nov. 4.

All students are welcome to attend the 7 p.m. presentation, which is free and part of the 2011 Lead NIU Summit. The event will take place in the Duke Ellington Ballroom of the Holmes Student Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Cast members also have a partnership with Verizon Wireless Careers, the sponsor of their 2011/2012 Nationwide College Tour.

Speaking to college campuses across the country, TBL asks students: “What do you want to do before you die?” Twenty-one contest winners will see their dreams come true; applicants must draw or show pictures of their dreams and then upload and share them to take part.

“The Buried Life” began five years ago when the four friends from Victoria, British Columbia, set out on a mission to accomplish a list of things to do before they die and to help others along the way.

The boys funded their initial two-week road trip through local sponsors and fundraisers; their community has since grown to more than 1.2 million fans on Facebook. Among other things, the group will publishing its first book, “What do You Want to do Before You Die?” in March 2012 with Artisan Books, a division of Workman Publishing.

Friday’s visit is hosted by the Student Involvement & Leadership Development, the Student Association, the Campus Activities Board, the Residence Hall Association and Verizon Wireless.
