NIU’s Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management has a new marketing campaign and message for students: the “Match Made in Heaven” with Victor E.
The deadline is Friday, Dec. 9.
Students can’t help becoming attached to Victor E. Huskie and all the activities and programs he can offer them.
The campaign’s message is about getting involved in campus life. For both current and prospective students, it’s important to remember the extracurricular offerings and social aspects of NIU’s DeKalb campus.
Brian O. Hemphill, vice president for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, spoke about the significance of students becoming engaged in their campus and surrounding community: “We know from student development research that students who engage both in and out of the classroom have significantly higher academic performance and are more satisfied with their overall college experience.”
So, while students are here to learn, it’s important that they become involved in other ways in order to maximize their NIU experience.
The “Victor E. & Me” website contains videos that feature students finding their “perfect match” through their experiences on the NIU campus (represented by Victor E. Huskie). Viewers can see the pairs taking part in campus discussions, working out at the campus recreation center and participating in community service.
Once viewers see how they too can engage with Victor E., they can find their own match by using the website’s database, which provides potential activities and programs based on users’ interests.
Students are also encouraged to film and submit their own “Victor E. & Me” success stories. Entries will be collected, reviewed and added to the website. One lucky student will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the most creative submission.
