Overnight mountain-biking trip planned

Photo of a man on a bike in the wooded hillsLike mountain-biking? Want to learn? Spend two days practicing your skills and enjoying the outdoors at Kettle Moraine State Forest.

Trails such as the John Muir Trail claim to be some of the best off-road trails in the Midwest. Participants can choose levels ranging from beginner to intermediate. A variety of loops will introduce bikers to, or test their skills riding in sand, over rocks, narrow beams and logs.

This is a gentle introduction to mountain-biking; those with little experience should not worry.

Participants will meet at the Outing Centre at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, to drive to Eagle, Wis., and spend the next two days riding, camping, and relaxing. Bikers will return to campus by 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

  • Early registration cost/deadline: members $65, non-members $80 by Wednesday, Oct. 12
  • Regular registration cost/deadline: members $80, non-members $95 by Thursday, Oct. 20
  • Cost includes: bike rental (includes helmet), camping gear (tent, sleeping bag and pad), meals (two lunches, one dinner, one breakfast), transportation and trip leaders.
