Nora Lindvall, also an NIU student, was elected to serve as SAC’s executive secretary. Lindvall is a senior pursuing a double major in English and political science.

Meanwhile, Ari Shroyer, a junior at Roosevelt University, and David Anderson, a Chicago State senior, have been elected as student members of the IBHE.

Shroyer is a student government leader and trustee at Roosevelt University and served as the executive secretary of the IBHE Student Advisory Committee, which elected its new leadership in August. Anderson was elected by SAC as the nontraditional student representative. He is a finance and economics major at CSU and also serves on the IBHE Performance Funding Steering Committee.

“I am gratified at the support from SAC to serve as one of its two representatives on the Board of Higher Education,” Shroyer said. “The student voice is a vital perspective for the Board to have, and one I will champion with vigor.”

Anderson noted the challenges facing students in austere fiscal times. “Students are increasingly burdened with rising costs as colleges and universities struggle to cope with declining state support and financial aid dollars have not kept up with demand. These are issues that must be high on the IBHE priority list.”

The mission of the IBHE-SAC is to represent higher education students from public universities, community colleges and private institutions on state-level issues concerning higher education, including providing input to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
