Nominees sought for Lincoln Laureate award

An outstanding undergraduate senior from each of the four-year, degree-granting institutions of higher learning in Illinois is chosen each year to receive the Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award.

Members of the University Scholarships Committee are seeking assistance from faculty and staff to identify NIU’s winner for 2011-12, the 36th year students have been recognized by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

Electronic nominations will be accepted until noon Monday, Sept. 12.

Nominees must be undergraduate students who will graduate in December 2011, May 2012 or August 2012.

Lincoln Student Laureates are honored for their overall excellence in both curricular and co-curricular activities. Laureates have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have demonstrated leadership in extra-curricular activities.

Winners are recognized during the annual Student Laureate Convocation at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield.
