Photo of U.S. flagsDeKalb County Clerk and Recorder John Acardo will induct 10 new members to the DeKalb County Veterans Honor Roll this week during the on Kishwaukee Fest USO Tribute Concert.

The induction ceremony will take place during intermission of the concert, which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Hopkins Park band shell.

The DeKalb County Veterans Honor Roll is a small way the community can continue to honor the men and women who sacrificed so much for U.S. freedoms and liberties.

Honorees:

  • receive certificates;
  • have their names recorded at each County Board meeting and in a leather-bound book kept with the county’s records;
  • have their names engraved on a small plaque located outside of the Veterans Assistance Commission; and
  • are honored at a small reception later this year.

A special tribute will be made to Cpl. Christopher Piatt, who returned home early this month from his deployment in Afghanistan.
