Art Museum announces Get on the Bus trips

Enjoy the company of other enthusiasts and don’t worry about driving and parking. Details for all bus trips are available online. Summer trips include:

Friday, July 22 (members only)

“Warm Light, Cool Shadows, The Life and Art of Ruth Van Sickle Ford” exhibition

Discussion and book-signing with Ford biographer Nancy Hopp, Aurora Public Arts Commission. Then enjoy a private tour with wine-and-cheese reception at the historic Ford Round House , designed by Bruce Goff. Bus leaves from the School of Art parking lot at 1 p.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25 per person, limited to 13 members. Registration and pre-payment deadline is Tuesday, July 19.

Saturday, Sept. 3

“Summer of CHINA” at the Milwaukee Art Museum and museum history at the Milwaukee Public Museum

Experience 3,000 years of Chinese art and culture including an overview tour of the Exhibition. MAM is only one of three worldwide venues to host this exhibition. Then discover one of the most historically significant museums in the country and experience any of 10 museum exhibitions yourself. Minimum of 15 attendees for discount rates: Members are $35, seniors/students are $40; all others are $45. Includes museum admissions, tour fees and transportation. Bus leaves from the School of Art parking lot at 8 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. Lunch on your own at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Registration and payment deadline Wednesday, Aug. 31.

  • Saturday, Oct. 29, Museum Studies Tour of Aurora Museums. Learn about museum work while visiting three area Museums, The Aurora Public Arts Commission/History Center, The Aurora Regional Fire Museum’s “Museums Un-Crated” exhibition, and Schingoethe Native American Museum at Aurora University.
  • Sunday, Nov. 13, the Avalon Quartet, Beethoven Selections, The Art Institute of Chicago.
