Northern Illinois University president, John G. Peters addressed several key components of a recently released report on NIU’s economic impact on the region during a radio interview with WNIJ-FM.
President Peters spoke with WNIJ news reporter Susan Stephens about how the study demonstrates that the university is a powerful force for economic and societal good in DeKalb County and beyond.
The report titled “NIU and Our Region’s Prosperity,” was completed by NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies. The report looked primarily at financial issues, but it also pointed out a variety of services provided by the university that enhance its value to the region it serves.
President Peters also discussed the state’s fiscal crisis and its effects on NIU and the region.
