Bryan Carter Trio to perform June 3 on campus

Bryan Carter "Enchantment" CD cover artThe Bryan Carter Trio will perform a CD release concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall of the NIU Music Building.

The trio features Carter on drums, Reginald Thomas on piano and Phillip J. Kuehn on bass.

Carter was the first high school student allowed to take music classes here at NIU while in his senior year at Sycamore High School.

The son of Ron Carter, NIU Board of Trustees professor and director of jazz studies in the NIU School of Music, he was recognized as the top high school jazz drummer in Illinois during his junior and senior years.

He currently attends the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and is a Vic Firth Artist. This summer’s schedule also includes a six-week tour with NEA Jazz Master pianist Kenny Barron.

Tickets for the June 3 concert are $15 for adults and $10 for students. The auditorium is accessible to all.
