The DeKalb Festival Chorus, with guest artists the Prairie Brass Band and soloist John Campen, will present a concert for families at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall of the NIU Music Building.
The family-friendly, animal-themed concert is titled “Animato!”
Chorus members have prepared an entertaining and educational program of high-caliber music literature in a format that appeals to adults and children of all ages.
Each selection in the program features a different animal, and a slide show of animal photos will accompany each piece. The program will end with children being invited up to the stage for John Bratton’s “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” and a chance to see the brass instruments up close.
Representatives from TAILS Humane Society will give a short presentation about animal rescue in DeKalb County.
This is a fine occasion to encourage students to experience exceptional music in a family setting. Tickets are available at the door for $10. Children 12 and younger are admitted for $5.
This event is sponsored in part by the DeKalb County Community Foundation and WNIU/Northern Public Radio. For more information, call Jen Whiting at (630) 453-8006.
