Student, faculty composers to present concert

Photo of piano keyboardThe NIU School of Music will host a concert of music by NIU student and faculty composers at 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, in the Music Building Recital Hall.

The public is invited and admission is free.

The program will feature music by student composers Johnny Gifford, Kyle Krause, Kyle Stephens and Brian Wach. Music by faculty composers Robert Fleisher and David Maki also will be heard, including Maki’s performance of his own “Pond” for solo piano.

Student performers will include Clarice Castilho (percussion), Gifford (marimba), Daniel Eastwood (marimba), Angela Keply (percussion), Krause (piano), Stephens (piano), Matt Todd (alto saxophone) and Wach. Featured NIU alum, composer-pianist Daniel Houglum, will perform his own solo piano work titled “Onward.”

Special guest performers will include School of Music faculty member William Koehler (piano) and Anthony Stoops (double bass).
